What’s Up - Forms of Abstraction | Hong Kong explores the plurality and malleability of abstraction, and its enduring relevance today. Opening March 26th on the sixth floor of the Pedder Building, Hong Kong, What’s Up coincides with Art Basel to present works from the 1960s to now by an array of emerging and institutional artists alongside recently rediscovered names. Artists working throughout Europe, America and Asia in the field of abstraction will be represented, some showcased for the first time in Hong Kong. This exhibition introduces major themes that will be continued in a May edition in New York during Frieze Art Fair. All of the artists presented in What’s Up – Forms of Abstraction have enjoyed recent institutional or biennial exposure, or can be seen in current or forthcoming museum exhibitions around the world. Among them, Donna Huanca at the Yuz Museum in Shanghai, Yayoi Kusama at the Art Gallery of Ontario, and Anish Kapoor at the MAST Foundation in Bologna are notable.
