Melike Kara’s rapid brushwork and ebullient colour palette imbue her works with the energy of her frenzied subjects and their unsettling, dream-like worlds. Echoing the work of her mentor, Rosemarie Trockel, Kara creates sculpture and large-scale paintings that are playful yet sinister; by testing the limitations of the human form, she juxtaposes a seemingly vapid human sociability with an ever-present sexual desire.
