Jordan Kasey

Biography

Lives and works in Brooklyn, NY

Jordan Kasey creates large-scale figurative oil paintings that visualise human emotion, and how these complex forces shape our interactions with the natural world. Her surrealist works offer a glimpse into dreamscapes that seem devoid of time or other tangible means of orientation. Often extending beyond the edges of the canvas, the monumental figures who occupy the paintings appear alien, languid and statuesque – their taught flesh sculpted from gleaming marble; and yet, their eerily quotidian surroundings imbue Kasey’s subjects with a dynamism that suggests we are privy to an intimate moment in the daily activities of a friend or lover.
